Give and Take: a new column for World of Philanthropy

My new column for World of Philanthropy explores the relationship between philanthropy and capitalism

As a non-executive director at Dutch publication World of Philanthropy, I’m delighted to write its first English language column which launched this week.

Give and Take examines philanthropy on three levels:

First, it explores the relationship between capitalism and philanthropy - productive or contradictory?

Second, it considers whether philanthropy is always about giving and capitalism about taking.

Third, it celebrates the fact that ‘give and take’ is at the heart of both journalism and philanthropy at its best: debate, dialogue and engagement as well as democratic thought, journalistic freedom and a diverse range of views and voices.

Give and Take invites you to think differently about philanthropy, to take a broader view of where we're going and perhaps leave feeling driven to do more, better.

Interested? My debut column is here The world of Philanthropy is changing
